Defender Ashley Lyth, 23, made his Boro debut as
a teenager on 10 February 2001 against Hayes.
He left Boro after only five first team
appearances to join Leicester City where he was a regular with the
Foxes’ Under-19 side, but he was released towards the end of the
2002-03 season.
Returning to Boro to have a run-out in a Reserve
fixture, he suffered a broken leg after only twelve minutes. Worked
his way back to fitness in the early stages of 2003-04 and earned a
regular place in the team, scoring his first Boro goal in an FA Cup
tie against Hinckley United on 25th November 2003.
Made 13 Boro appearances in 2004-05 plus 15 as
substitute, and a further 23 (+9) in 2005-06, bringing his Boro
career total to 69 (plus 31 as substitute).
This season he has struggled with injuries, but
when fit he is first choice in the right-back spot. |
