Having been released by Rochdale at the end of 05-06, vastly experienced midfielder Cartwright has signed a one year playing-coaching deal at Boro.

He made over 450 appearances, scoring 30 goals, for first club Preston North End over a ten year period, and became a legend at Deepdale. Following his release in 2004 he made 36 appearances for Stockport County in 18 months, and then 23 starts at Rochdale.

He has been signed to play them younger players in the team progress, but is still a major player in Boro's midfield himself, and hopes are high he can be a success.
